Tanoa Sasraku is included in ‘Expanding Landscapes: Painting After Land Art’ at Abbot Hall Museum, Kendal, UK opening 17 May 2025
Tanoa Sasraku, Red Gate, 2022
Explore the relationship between land and art in ‘Expanding Landscapes: Painting After Land Art’, an exhibition that brings together historical works and contemporary artists. The exhibition is on view 17 May to 6 September 2025.
Engaging with nature and observing our relationship with the landscape around us has been a common theme in painting since Romanticism, with many artists taking inspiration from the Lake District such as J.M.W Turner who explored light, time, and the forces of weather through his work.
The exhibition follows the romantic motifs of earth, sea and sky through a variety of materials and processes including the use of earth pigment from specific locations.
Expanding Landscapes is curated by Rebecca Partridge and Joy Sleeman in collaboration with Helen Stalker.
